1. Day (Monday)
Morning: presentations at the ELTE TTK 10:00-14:00 with lunch between
- Szabolcs Harangi: Neogene volcanism in space and time
- Orsolya Sztanó: Depositional environment in the Miocene in North Hungary
- Andrea Di Capua: Volcanosediments – basics, nomenclatura

Afternoon: travel to Mátraverebély-Szentkút
Fieldtrip to
- Sámsonháza and Vadász-gödör
Accommodation: Mátraverebély-Szentkút, Zarándokház
2. Day (Tuesday)
Fieldtrips to
- Páris-patak, Nógrádszakáll (2 outcrops; volcanogenic conglomerates and sandstone, lahar deposits; 2-3 hours)
- Ipolytarnóc (primary PDCs, footprints, visitor center 3-4 hours) Szarvas Imre, Botfalvai Gábor
Accommodation: Mátraverebély-Szentkút, Zarándokház
3. Day (Wednesday)
Fieldtrips to
- Fülek, Slovakia (basalt maar deposits; 1-2 hours)
- Tajti (diatréma), Sőreg
- Tar (Fehérkő quarry, andesitic volcaniclastics, dacitic and andesitic PDC and sedimentary channels; 4-5 hours)
Accommodation: Mátraverebély-Szentkút, Zarándokház
4. Day (Thursday)
Fieldtrips to
- Sirok (PDC, ignimbrite, welding, channels, fall and surge deposits; whole day)
- in the late afternoon visit to Egerszalók travertino
- Egerszalók (sand quarry; epiclastic deposits; PDC deposits and the visitor center) – optional;
Accommodation: Egerszalók, Thermal Park Egerszalók
5. Day (Friday)
Fieldtrips to
- Eger (Homok utca, paleosurface, PDC)
- Eger (Tihamér quarries, ignimbrite and related deposits)
- Andornaktálya (Rózsa utca, different primary and secondary volcanoclastic deposits)
- Egerszalók (PDC deposits and the visitor center) – optional;
- Braun-valley sand quarry (volcanogenic sand deposit)?
Travel back to Budapest (arrival around 19:00)
Costs: 400€ for accomodation and meals
